A slight, but attractive face lift characterized the 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Special 2 and 1951 Chevy 4 door sedans. By moving the parking lamps into the lower grille opening under the headlamps a wider look was achieved. New, smaller tail lamps with a nearly square red plastic lens were used.
Styleline Specials had rounded back ends that had a different look than the Fleetline Special fastbacks. In addition Styleline Specials were produced without the body stainless steel trim or script.
Specials came only with the base engine and 3 speed transmission. Equipment features followed the 1949 Chevrolet and 1950 Chevrolet
Windshield and rear window rubber seals were not covered with the stainless reveal moldings like the Deluxe models. Other exterior trim found only on the Deluxe models were the moldings outlining the windshield and rear window glass and followed the top curve of the doors and quarter windows on the Chevy sedan and Chevrolet coupe. There were none on the 1951 Styleline Specials.

"You'll Like Its Longer, Lower, Wider Big Car Look!" and "Longest, Heaviest in its Field...with more fine features you want!" said one 1951 Styline magazine ad. The Styleline Deluxe magazine ads like the one below said..."America's Largest and Finest Low-Priced Car!"
