In 1949 and 1950 Chevy produced a Styleline Special Sport Coupe and Styleline Deluxe Sport Coupe.

These Styleline Sport Coupe's were also produced in 1951. This 1951 Chevy car had a very distinct body style similar to the 1951 Chevy Business Coupe.

A two door Chevy sedan is usually made with a 4 door sedan roof panel and seating package. Only the number and size of the doors distinguished the two. However, The 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Special and 1951 Chevy Styleline Deluxe Sport Coupes had a shorter cabin area and a longer trunk.

Traveling salesmen purchased these cars to carry samples in the back seating area and inside the large trunk area. With a back seat the Sport Coupe could also carry extra passengers and children.

Note the different trim or lack of trim on the cars above and below. The 1951 Chevy Styline Special Sport Coupe above did not have stainless trim along the front fender like the Deluxe below. In addition the Specials used a rubber gravel guard instead of one made of stainless steel.

Restored 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Sport Coupe

1951 Chevrolet Coupe model numbers were 1524 for the Styleline Special and 2124 for the Styleline Deluxe. The cost of the Styleline Specials were $1545.00 with a production run of 18,981. 1951 Chevy Delux Sport Coupe models sold for $1647.00 and Chevrolet produced 64,976 units. With the Deluxe models selling for only $100.00 more, customers got a much nicer looking car with all the extra trim.
