1951 Classic Chevrolet "Fleetline Special"

Chevy Fleetline Special sales were strong for 1949 but not in 1950. There was very little change in the two 1951 Chevy Fleetline Special body style.

Sales were once again slow in 1951 with a total of 6,441 two-doors and 3,364 four-doors units sold. Fleetline Special's also cost more in 1951, with 2 door sedans selling at $1540.00 ($137.00 more than 1950 models) and four door sedans selling at $1594.00 ($144.00 more than the 4 door 1950 Chevrolet cars).

The following year (1952) was the last that a full line of Fleetline Specials and Fleetline Delux would be offered by Chevrolet.

All exterior trim found on the 1951 Chevy Fleetline Deluxe models were clearly absent on the Fleetline Specials. Trim like the Deluxe stainless on the front fenders and the chrome trim on top of the rear fenders. Other exterior stainless trim found only on the Deluxe models were the windshield and rear window reveal moldings. The moldings outlined the windshield and rear window glass and followed the top curve of the doors and quarter windows on sedans and coupes. No fender skirts on these cheaper Fleetline Specials.

Black rubber mud and gravel guards were seen on both Fleetline and Styleline specials. Two tone gray interiors with light gray striped pattern cloth upholstery were used. Equipment features followed the 1949-1950 assortment. Model number for the 1951 Chevy Fleetline Specials was 1553 for the four door sedan and 1552 for the two door sedan.
